Kitchen Extension - Palmers Green, Enfield

This project involved the construction of a rear extension in Palmers Green, Enfield, designed to create a larger kitchen and improve the overall functionality of the ground floor. The existing layout restricted how the space could be used, so the extension was planned to provide a clean, purpose-built footprint for a modern kitchen rather than forcing changes within the original structure.

The works began with groundwork and foundations to support the new extension. Excavations were carried out and new concrete foundations were installed in accordance with structural requirements. From this base, new walls were built up, incorporating damp proof courses and insulation to ensure long-term protection against moisture and heat loss. The structure was formed to tie seamlessly into the existing property, both structurally and visually.

Once the shell of the extension was complete, insulation was installed to the walls, floor, and ceiling to meet current building regulations. This created a warm, energy-efficient space suitable for everyday use. New drainage runs and service connections were introduced at this stage, allowing the kitchen layout to be designed without compromise. First fix electrics and plumbing were then completed, setting out lighting, power, and appliance positions to suit the new layout.

With the structural and core services in place, the focus shifted to the internal fit-out. The new kitchen installation was planned to make full use of the extended space, creating a clear working flow between cooking, preparation, and washing areas. Integrated storage and tall units were used to keep larger appliances neatly contained, helping the space feel organised and uncluttered.

The finished kitchen is bright, modern, and practical. Clean cabinetry, durable worktops, and a simple splashback give the room a timeless feel, while recessed lighting enhances both function and atmosphere. The extension has transformed the ground floor, delivering a well-insulated, well-planned kitchen that adds genuine usable space and long-term value to the home.
