Kitchen Renovation - Wood Green, Harringay
This project involved a full kitchen renovation in Wood Green, Harringay, where the existing space was heavily outdated and affected by multiple underlying issues that went beyond surface-level finishes. The original kitchen suffered from severe floor damp, mould-damaged ceilings, worn-out cabinetry, and an outdated lighting setup that made the space feel tired and impractical for everyday use.
Before any visible improvements could be made, the priority was to address the condition of the structure itself. The existing floor tiles were removed to expose damp-affected areas beneath, allowing the damaged joists to be identified and replaced. The floor structure was reconfigured where required to ensure a stable and long-lasting base before new finishes were installed. At the same time, the existing ceiling was removed due to damage and age, opening the space up for a full electrical first fix.
With the ceiling down, the electrical layout was upgraded to suit a modern kitchen setup, including improved lighting placement and updated power points. Once the first fix was completed, a new ceiling was installed, followed by second fix electrics to bring the space up to a clean, modern standard. This stage allowed the kitchen layout to be properly planned without being constrained by outdated services or poor existing conditions.
Once the core works were complete, attention turned to the kitchen itself. New cabinetry was fitted to improve both storage and usability, replacing the worn units that previously dominated the space. The layout was refined to create a more practical working area, while new finishes were introduced to give the kitchen a contemporary and cohesive feel.
The finished kitchen is now a clean, practical space that works efficiently from end to end. A simplified layout creates a clear run of units and worktop space, improving cooking, washing, and storage, while tall units keep larger appliances neatly out of the way for a calm, modern finish.
New finishes bring the space together and make it easier to live with day to day. Large floor tiles create a clean, continuous surface, while the tiled splashback protects working areas without dominating the room. Updated lighting and a new ceiling complete the transformation into a functional, well-finished kitchen.
